Navigating the Current Political Climate
Some reminders we hope you hold onto
The current political climate may feel loud, but loud does not mean permanent. History moves in cycles; empires fall, systems change, narratives shift.
The world we live in today still carries the remnants of colonialism and structural inequality, but it is important to remember that across the world Black and Brown communities represent the majority of humanity, culture, creativity, innovation and future growth.
Your existence, your ambition and your education are acts of resistance in themselves.
There have always been people who tried to convince marginalised communities to shrink themselves, lower their expectations or disappear quietly. Every generation before us has proven them wrong.
You come from lineages of people who survived unimaginable things and still created beauty, knowledge, music, movements, businesses, scholarship, families and futures.
Do not let anyone convince you that this moment is the end of the story.
Protect your peace online
The internet is not a neutral place right now. Many platforms profit from outrage, conflict and fear because those emotions keep people engaged for longer. Constant exposure to racism, hostility and political division can quietly impact your nervous system, concentration, confidence and mental health, even when you think you are “handling it.” Please protect your peace intentionally.
Some reminders:
You do not need to read every comment section.
You do not need to debate people who deny your humanity.
You are allowed to block, mute and unfollow freely.
Doomscrolling is not activism.
Resting is not ignorance.
Logging off is sometimes the healthiest thing you can do.
Curate your online spaces carefully. Follow people who educate, inspire and energise you, not just people who exhaust you. Algorithms are designed to keep serving you emotionally charged content, that does not mean the world is only darkness.
There is still joy. Still creativity. Still community. Still softness. Still people building beautiful things every single day. Protect your mind accordingly.
Your Future Still Exists
Please do not allow the current political climate to convince you that your future has disappeared. Your potential still matters. Your talent still matters. Your ideas still matter.
The world still needs:
Black doctors
Black founders
Black teachers
Black engineers
Black creatives
Black journalists
Black lawyers
Black leaders
Your journey may not always be easy, but please remember that progress for our communities has never happened because conditions were perfect. There are still people opening doors, mentors willing to help, communities investing in each other, opportunities waiting for you to step into them.
So, apply for the opportunity. Submit the application. Start the business. Share the idea. Attend the networking event. Ask the question. Dream bigger than the fear around you.
Your future still exists and we at With Insight Education genuinely believe it can still be extraordinary.
Know your rights
If you experience racism, discrimination or harassment at university, work or in public spaces, please remember that you have rights and support is available.
If something happens to you:
Document It Where Possible
Save Screenshots Or Evidence
Tell Someone You Trust
Seek Support Early
Remember That Asking For Help Is Not “Making A Fuss”
You deserve to feel safe, respected and protected.
