Outcomes
Ramone and his mentee formed a strong bond early on, both acquiring valuable skills and fresh perspectives. Ramone expressed that it was a significant learning opportunity to mentor someone much younger. "Having a different viewpoint is fascinating and beneficial. It's hard to recall being 17 years old when you're my age, so gaining that fresh understanding was immensely helpful."
It was also a great opportunity for his skill development. In particular, Ramone improved his feedback abilities during his time on the programme. "I improved my ability to provide more constructive feedback and now use this approach in my daily work." His mentee was equally enthusiastic, citing improvements in her interview skills like better use of body language, maintaining eye contact and giving jobrelevant answers. She also appreciated Ramone's guidance on leveraging LinkedIn professionally.
Overall, Ramone found the opportunity to witness his mentee's growth hugely rewarding. "It convinced me of the difference mentoring made. She truly absorbed the information and made decisions aligning with her own desires."
Lasting Legacy
Having watched Atran grow more confident and capable over time with his support, Ramone looks forward to seeing what comes from the seeds that they planted together. "Having a different viewpoint from someone much younger is fascinating and beneficial," Ramone reflected. "Being a mentor was a stretch goal for me. The experience has made me appreciate how much I've learned, while also giving me a fresh perspective on familiar experiences."
